Why This Matters

The Massachusetts energy efficiency landscape is at a critical juncture. In February 2025, the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) enacted $500M in budget cuts, threatening the very infrastructure of the Mass Save program.

Local contractors are increasingly asked to do more and more, with less. This unsustainable model risks bankrupting the specialized workforce needed to meet the Commonwealth's ambitious climate goals.

Current Legislative Threats

    Budgetary Compression

Drastic reductions in program funding leading to reduced project volume and payment delays.

  • arrow_right_alt

    Unilateral Rate Freezes

Contractors are being asked to absorb inflationary costs without commensurate pricing adjustments.

    Market Destabilization

New policies that bypass local expertise in favor of national lead aggregators.
